A hernia is a rupture of the abdominal which may be followed by the protrusion of intestine.
Best-known hernias are the inguinal hernia, umbilical hernia, laparocele and cicatricial hernias.
A hernia should always be operated, as it is always possible that some intestinal part gets wedged in.
- Painful swelling in the inguinal region, in particular under weight bearing, or in the abdominal wall.
- In the majority of cases clinically.
- Conventional or laparoscopic operation: Intervention is performed by a small cut from the outside (conventional method) or by minimalinvasive care by small cuts of 5mm-10mm length (laparoscopic method).
- In most cases by insertion of a net (tension-free).
