The gallbladder is found at the right-sided costal arch and measures about 3” (8cm) diameter wide.
Gall, produced in the liver, gets into the small intestine through the bile duct. In the small intestine it subserves the digestion of fat.
Part of the gall is stored in the gallbladder.
Most-common affections of the gallbladder:
- Acute inflammation of the gallbladder
- Pressure pain in the right abdomen, often colicky
- Ultrasound examination
- Laparoscopic removal of the gallbladder: The minimalinvasive intervention is performed by small cuts of 5mm-10mm length.
- Depending on progress, for 1 – 2 days
